2006 Ladybug Rose bottle
2006 Ladybug Rosé VQA

Bright, fresh fruit salad aromas include white peach, honeydew melon, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, grapefruit and rhubarb. The palate is rich, clean and medium-bodied with flavours of strawberry, rhubarb, red currant and Granny Smith apple. A hint of sweetness up front makes way for a refreshingly dry finish.

Winemaker's Notes:
Our 2006 Ladybug Rosé is composed of 67% Cabernet Franc, 15% Pinot Noir, 13% Gamay, and the remaining 5% other vinifera.  Each component variety was handled individually.  The grapes were hand harvested and sorted to achieve an average sugar level of 20.0° brix, soaked on the skins for an average 18 hours, fermented cool in stainless steel and then blended to create a rich rosé. Bottled on January 23, 2006 under Stelvin® closure. Drink now until 2008.

Food Pairings:
This Rosé goes with just about everything. Try with prosciutto rolled in arugula leaves with black pepper and extra virgin olive oil with a shave of Parmigiano Reggiano. You can't miss with garlic - even roasted whole - and drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and a tiny bit of blue cheese. Great with a warmed goat cheese crottin on endive and arugula salad. For some simpler pairings, this wine is great with deli style hot dogs with all the fixins - diced onion, Dijon mustard, & tomato concassé on a sesame seed bun. Also great with nachos, ham, chicken and any kind of pizza.

Wine Reviews:
"'Ladybug, Ladybug, fly away home' is a popular children's rhyme, but not half as popular as Malivoire's Ladybug rosé. The segue to this medium-bodied gem are lifted aromas of sweet pit fruit and cherry. The flavours are spicy cranberry, strawberry and red currant. It's well balanced, spicy and zesty with a gorgeous touch of sweet berry fruit on the finish. A delightful aperitif, it could also be paired with light appetizers." - Vic Harradine

“If you're in the dog house because you forgot the Valentines Day card, find yourself a bottle of Malivoire Ladybug Rosé 2006 at Vintages outlets. She'll love it. For my money it's the best Ontario pink wine that doesn't only look pretty but goes very well with a range of dishes. And at $14.85 (retail) a bottle the price is right. The wine is orange-pink in colour with a fragrant bouquet of raspberries. It's medium-bodied, dry with a tangerine and raspberry flavour and just a hint of green pepper from the Cabernet Franc that dominates the blend. You can match this wine with fish dishes or white meats. And it's delicious with onion soup. That's Malivoire Ladybug Rosé 2006”. Tony Aspler

“Malivoire is very committed to dry Rosé and the 06 ‘Ladybug’  was a hit with a platter of shaved chorizo. Every bottle I had this summer was a hit with whatever food was on the table” Billy Munnelly

"Mainly Cab Franc, with about 15% each of Pinot Noir and Gamay. Dry, fresh red berry fruit, fresh herb, light spice, even a hint of tarragon here. Dry, strawberry fruit, bright, clean acid, lingering berry fruit. Simply delicious and highly drinkable. Drink now". Score 88 - John Szabo (May 15-08)
