With a rich golden colour, this wine has a complex bouquet of aromas featuring peach, apricot syrup, baked apple, banana flambe, and sultana raisin. Satisfying sweetness on first sip gives way to a long, smooth finish balanced by citrus flavours of clementines and pink grapefruit, making this fragrant wine the perfect start or finish to your meal.
Winemaker's Notes:
The 2006 Late Harvest Gewurztraminer hails from our organically farmed estate vineyard. These grapes were left on the vine until the winter months, when two separate pickings took place, the first on the 8th of December, 2006 and the second on the 11th of January, 2007. Both harvests took place between –5°C and –7°C. The grapes, partially frozen and dehydrated, were whole cluster pressed in small vertical basket presses to produce juice of intense concentration with an average sugar level of 30.2 ° brix. Fermented cool in stainless steel, the finished wine contains 13.5% alcohol, 80 g/L residual sugar and 7.5 g/L titratable acidity. Forty-six cases were bottled in August, 2007.
Reviews:
"This has fine flavours that are rich, intense and pungent and beautifully balanced by a seam of acidity that has both breadth and depth. It's a great partner for blue cheese." 4 1/2 Stars (Rod Phillips, August 2008)
